CSX2226 was completed on November 19, 1963 and started life as a street car. Purchased by Bill and Dave Murray in 1977, CSX2226 was converted to full race specifications and was successfully campaigned in SCCA GT-1 by Bill Murray. Frequently racing and beating tube frame Corvette and other contemporary race cars as late as 1983, CSX 2226 was the last Cobra in Shelby history to successfully race professionally.

Today this car continues its career as a vintage racer, still in SCCA GT-1 trim and still beating Corvettes adn Camaros. In 1997, CSX 2226 participated in the Monterey Historic Races finishing 5th in a large field of Cobras assembled to honor the acievements of Carrall Shelby and Shelby American. CSX 22226 also finished 1st in class and 4th overall in the Merrill Lynch/Brian Redman International Challenge at Road America.
